Jinkyu Lee (https://sites.google.com/site/iamjinkyulee/) received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in computer science from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Korea, in 2004, 2006, and 2011, respectively. He is an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU), Korea, where he joined in 2014. He has been a visiting scholar/research fellow in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of Michigan, MI, USA, in 2011-2014. His research interests include system design and analysis with timing guarantees, QoS support, and resource management in real-time embedded systems, mobile systems, and cyber-physical systems. He received the Best Student Paper Award from the 17th IEEE Real-Time and Embedded Technology and Applications Symposium (RTAS) in 2011, and the Best Paper Award from the 33rd IEEE Real-Time Systems Symposium (RTSS) in 2012.

-Abstract
In this talk, I will present my experience of how computer scientists can improve the performance of batteries. To this end, I will explain some physical characteristics of batteries, and give examples how to improve the battery performance by scheduling battery charge, discharge and rest, and by controlling other environments. Then, I will introduce my recent (and ongoing) research topics regarding battery performance improvement.
