Compared with the traditional 4G and 5G, the AI-enabled Intent Based Networking (IBN) designed for 6G networks are more natural and more efficient to manage in the aspect of its architecture, and its network service function is more open. IBN offers a way to manage complicated and rapidly-changing environments by transforming users’ business intents into network configurations, operation, and maintenance strategies. IBN is one of the key enablers for designing intelligent 6G networks in order to meet the massive service demands and overcome the time-varying radio propagation. IBNs can continuously learn and adapt to the time-varying network environment based on the massive collected network data in real-time.
This talk introduces the current industrial approaches on IBN. Then, open issues and challenges are presented to spur future research in IBN for 6G.
