Abstract:
In this talk, the effort of NOUL to invent novel solutions to tackle critical global challenges that threaten human health and lives will be introduced. Despite the advances of modern medicines and healthcare systems, people in the developing countries still suffer from communicable disease like Malaria/Tuberculosis/HIV. Amongst them, malaria is particularly dangerous to children and pregnant women. More than 70% of all malaria death occur under age 5. TB and HIV are also major global public health issues, but many of the patients do not recognize their status. We are developing next-generation infectious disease diagnosis platform which integrates lab-on-a-chip, mobile imaging system and computer vision technology. We expect our new diagnosis platform will be the ultimate solution for point-of-care diagnosis in both advanced countries and resource-poor settings
