[Biography]

Myung-Chul Kim is a tech-enthusiast, and his interests broadly span the area of technology scaling, chip design methodology, electronic design, optimization and machine learning. He is the recipient of the IEEE/ACM William J. McCalla Best Paper Award, and winner of ISPD 2010 and ICCAD 2012 contests. He organized multiple academic contests to bridge the gap between industry and academica. He owns 18 US patents 4 pending. He is now with Google.

[Abstract]

The landscape of technology scaling and chip development has significantly changed in the last decade as it hits the physical limitations and new applications arise. This talks reviews the demand for the custom computing and shares the perspectives on electronic design automation and methocology as key enablers to continue the computing evoluation.
